Corporate Social Responsibility
hc solicitors have been providing Legal Services in the Peterborough area since 1934. Founded by Dr Jack Hunt, we have expanded over the years to become a medium-sized business with just under 100 employees providing a full range of legal services to local individuals and businesses. Since our inception we have acted for the local Cooperative Society and we also act for many local charities and church organisations.
At hc we pride ourselves on the balance of services we provide:
- For our commercial clients we provide the full range of company legal advice including company law, contract law, employment law, property, IT, intellectual property and much more.
- For our individual clients we have expertise in the management of large estates, divorces with high value assets and complex pensions and the purchase of all kinds of properties.
- We are also pleased to provide criminal defence and some family services under the Legal Aid provisions and we offer significant expertise in areas such as Mental Health law and Child Protection.
- We provide substantial representation and access to legal services across all sectors of the community.
Jack Hunt, the firm’s founder, was known locally as ‘the Poor Man’s lawyer’ as he provided court representation free at a time when there was no legal aid assistance for poorer clients. He believed passionately in the importance of education and was chair of the Local Education Authority which lead to Jack Hunt School, a secondary school in the West of Peterborough, being named after him.
Since the firm was founded, we have maintained a sense of social responsibility and although many firms are now focussing on serving high-value clients only we intend to continue to represent the whole community. Following in the tradition of our founder, hc believe in ethical trading and business practice and attempt to fulfil a responsible position in the following areas:
• Supporting the local community
• Minimising our impact on the environment
• Assisting our staff to create an appropriate balance between work and the other areas of their lives
