Divorce and separation
Divorce or separation can be one of the most stressful things that can happen to you. We can provide advice on the options available if your marriage or civil partnership is facing difficulties and can act for you if you decide to seek a divorce or separation.
Collaborative law: divorce away from the courts
Divorce nowadays doesn’t have to be a confrontational process. Where both parties agree on the benefits of keeping out of the courts (including the costs it can save) collaborative law provides a route to a simpler divorce, free from confrontation.
Three of our team are members of the Collaborative Family Law group and if you wish we can help you and your partner to reach agreements without having to go to court.
Going to court
Where it proves to be impossible to achieve settlement through the collaborative law process, forma divorce proceedings will be issued and the court will specify a timetable. Even so, we are in fact able to settle most cases without the need to go to court.
Attending to financial issues
Whatever process is followed, resolving financial issues is usually one of the most important parts of any divorce or separation. Members of our team have accreditations from Resolution (the membership organisation for family lawyers) in dealing with complex financial agreements and high value pension divisions on divorce or separation.
