…bringing good news to Hunt & Coombs

We are extremely proud to have once more received Band 1 recommendations in the Chambers UK 2017. Chambers guides are the culmination of thousands of in-depth interviews by a large research team and are trusted globally to objectively rank the world’s lawyers and law firms.

We were delighted to have received Band 1 recommendations in Crime, Family/Matrimonial, Private Client and Personal Injury (mainly claimant) in Peterborough and Surrounds. We also had six lawyers described as notable practitioners: Denis White, Edward Owen, Farhana Butt, Henry Anstey and Naina Tilney . This is well-deserved recognition for the Partners and the teams that support them.

Particular praise was given to the Personal Injury Team, ranked band 1 for personal injury (mainly claimant) in Peterborough and surrounds. The guide recognised that the team ‘Maintains a dedicated personal injury practice that acts across an impressive breadth of claims. Recent experience includes advising on brain injury, chronic pain and amputation cases.’’ Naina Tilney, Head of Personal Injury, was recognised as a notable practitioner and the guide said that she ‘draws on long-standing experience in complex personal injury claims, offering particular expertise on cases involving head and multiple injuries.’ One of the interviewees is quoted as saying that (the team) are “very thorough and provide very clear communication. They are entirely responsive without being overbearing. They enabled me to make relevant decisions and were fantastic: cost-effective and very good.”

The Family Team received recognition with their status as band 1 and the guide states that the team is well known for ‘acting on high-value divorces, representing parents and guardians in complex care cases, and advising on children’s contact and residence issues.’ They went on to say that the Firm has a ‘Strong team of practitioners trained in collaborative law and skilled in traditional litigation.’ Denis White is described as having ‘“an exceptional reputation” in family law and is experienced handling matrimonial cases involving high net worth individuals’ whilst head of the Family Team, Farhana Butt ‘is respected for her advice on financial remedy and divorce matters, including cases which involve complex tax issues and business assets.’ Edward Owen is described by an interviewee as “a very experienced and sensitive care practitioner who will always strive to achieve the best result for his clients.”

The Wills, Trusts and Probate Team, also ranked band 1 in Peterborough and Surrounds, was recognised for having a ‘Respected private client department which regularly deals with and manages high-value estates. Renowned for advising high net worth individuals and families on tax planning, Will preparation and a range of other wealth management solutions. Also represents elderly clients in matters connected to NHS care funding and mental capacity issues.’ One interviewee described Henry Anstey as “absolutely brilliant dealing with sensitive matters.”

For Real Estate matters, Anna Spriggs, Head of the Commercial Property Team, was recognised as a notable practitioner in the whole of East Anglia. The guide describes Anna as having a ‘wide range of commercial property experience, acting in acquisition, disposal and development mandates as well as in leasing and tenant work.’ The guide goes on to say that Anna is ‘particularly well respected in the area for her ecclesiastical expertise and is highlighted by sources, who comment that “she is highly capable, and demonstrates a solid knowledge of her field.”’

Senior Partner, Denis White, commented on the results saying “We are so proud of our achievements in the Chambers directory this year coming so close after our equally pleasing achievement in the Legal 500 directory. These directories follow a rigorous process of ranking legal firms in areas of law after extensive enquiries with our clients and fellow practitioners. Our lawyers work very hard to meet the needs of our clients and this is a great endorsement of their hard work and commitment.”
