Local lady treks through Africa for Mind

Sally White, a receptionist at local firm hc solicitors LLP, will be heading off on the journey of a lifetime on Monday. A team including Sally, her husband Ray, sister Mary and partner Michael will be travelling to Kenya to complete a trek of the Great African Rift Valley to raise money for the mental health charity, Mind.

Sally, who sadly lost her eldest son, Jason, through schizophrenia in 2005, has been campaigning to raise money for Mind ever since. Over the last year, she and the others in the team have raised a total of over £20,000 through a variety of events. Sally has asked colleagues at work to donate 'a pound a pay cheque' and husband Ray organised a golf day which raised nearly £3,000. Employer, hc solicitors LLP, made a donation just after christmas and this was followed this week by a cheque for £1,000 from Bluebell Maxey Charity Club.

Sally told us "Raising this money for Mind has kept me going in the difficult times after Jason's death. Knowing that his life is being commemorated in this way means so much to me and to his family. I have been amazed at how generous people have been and would like to thank everyone who has helped and donated over the last year".

If you would like to make a donation to Sally's appeal for Mind and support the invaluable help that they provide to the families of those with mental health problems, please go to www.justgiving.com/trekforjason
