Background

Corporate Social Responsibility

Jack Hunt founded the firm in 1934 to provide court representation free at a time when there was no legal aid for those that needed it most. Since then, the firm has maintained a strong sense of social responsibility and we continue to represent the whole community.

Following in the tradition of our founder, Hunt & Coombs believe in ethical trading and business practice, and attempt to fulfill a responsible position in the following areas:

Charity of the year

This year Hunt & Coombs are proud to be fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer.

Young Lives vs Cancer

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news that they have cancer.

Young Lives vs Cancer Specialist Social Workers provide vital psychosocial care to young cancer patients and their families. Psychosocial care encompasses every aspect of care apart from medical. This kind of emotional, practical support is integral for families with a young cancer diagnosis. By always being there for families, our social workers help reduce the stress and anxiety that cancer causes.

They are the main service provider of tailored psychosocial support to children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Our Fundraising So Far

Hunt & Coombs started fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer ahead of our Beer Festival in July 2025. We decided for the first time to have a Charity Raffle and several local businesses generously donated prizes. Our guests were happy to support such a worthy cause, and we raised over £2000 for Young Lives vs Cancer.

Since then, as a firm we have made it a priority to consistently fundraise internally with frequent dress down days, baking competitions and selling pin badges and plants.

We have more things planned as we head into the Festive Season and the New Year.

Cambridge Half Marathon

James Steward, Partner in our Commercial Property Team and Rob Glover, Credit Controller in our Finance Team have signed up to the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 8th March 2026 to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer.

They are taking on the 13.1 mile course through Cambridge’s historic streets in aid of our Charity of the Year. Both James and Rob share a passion for running and have previously competed in many races throughout the country.

Rob is an advocate for running to support your mental health and really enjoys the community that running brings. He is incredibly motivated to fundraise as much as possible for Young Lives vs Cancer and wants to raise awareness of all the good work the Charity undertakes.

James has a very personal reason for wanting to fundraise for Young Lives vs Cancer as he recently lost his Father to the disease shortly before welcoming his first child. Whilst he is personally still coming to terms with this life changing event he feels motivated and determined to channel his grief and raise funds for those navigating the devastating impact of cancer.
