Background

Legal Duties & Responsibilities

70th Anniversary

If you are already a charity trustee (i.e. someone who is responsible for the management of a charity), or you have been invited to become one, you may need professional advice.

One of the duties of trustees is to obtain professional advice on all matters where there is a risk that the trustees may be in breach of their duties or where there may be a material risk to the charity. Our solicitors can advise you about how the law affects your charity and what you need to do to comply. Depending on the type of charity and its activities you may need legal advice from our solicitors on the law relating to:

  • Fundraising;
  • Companies;
  • Employment;
  • Contracts;
  • Leasing and property transactions;
  • Health and safety legislation;
  • Education; and
  • Children and vulnerable persons;

If you would like legal advice on your duties as a trustee please contact us.
