Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) of land

Compulsory purchase is a legal mechanism which enables certain bodies to acquire land without the owner’s consent. CPOs follow the procedures set out in the Acquisition of Land Act 1981 and may be granted to support a range of infrastructure projects in the public interest.
