…as the prestigious Legal 500 rankings results are announced

We are extremely proud to have once more received top tier recommendations in the Legal 500 directory. A rigorous process of assessment was followed whereby client testimonials were scrutinised and specialist researchers provided independent assessments before making their recommendations.

We were delighted to have had ten lawyers listed in the elite ‘Leading Individuals’ list – the Legal 500’s guide to outstanding lawyers. Farhana Butt, Andrew Cave, Simon Milburn, Naina Tilney, Henry Anstey, Paddy Appleton, Denis White, Edward Owen and Lesley Milne were all featured in the list. This is an outstanding result for the firm and a credit to each individual and the teams that support them. In addition to this, Louise Ballantyne was recognised by the guide as a ‘Next Generation Lawyer’ and 27 other lawyers were recommended.

Anna Spriggs, Senior Partner, commented on the results saying “We are tremendously proud of our achievement in the Legal 500 this year. To have ten lawyers awarded the elite ‘Leading Individual’ status as well as 28 other individuals recommended is a fantastic achievement. Our lawyers and support staff work enormously hard to exceed the expectations of their clients and these results reflect our expertise and commitment.”

The Commercial Team were delighted with their review acknowledging their extensive experience and impeccable client care and being described as ‘good, professional and thorough’. Anna Spriggs, described as having ‘a high level of drive and integrity; being ‘discreet with a good sense of priority’ and ‘Commercially aware and responsive’, is recognised as a leading individual for both charities and not-for-profit work in East Anglia as well as real estate in Peterborough.

The Private Client Team were described as a ‘Solid, reliable and very traditional firm’ and the team is ‘competitively priced, professional and approachable’ stating that the firm has a well-established private client practice in Peterborough and a strong presence across the region through its offices in Oundle, Huntingdon and St Neots. Clients note that the lawyers are ‘all friendly, helpful and demonstrate excellent client-facing skills‘. Both Paddy Appleton (‘likeable and friendly and explains things simply’) and Henry Anstey (‘genuinely cares about his clients and how much he saves them.’ He is praised for being ‘excellent in long-term care issues and complicated wills and trusts’) are both recognised as leading individuals in the region.

The guide acknowledged that the Family Team ‘has the largest family practice in the city and it handles both private and public law cases.’ The researchers quoted that the ‘overall level of service is excellent, and the advice is appropriate and made in good time‘. The team is recognised as being ‘at the very top of the market for family work in Peterborough’ and has three leading individuals for the region – Farhana Butt, Denis White and Edward Owen.

Particular praise was given to the Personal Injury Team again this year who were recognised for being ‘dedicated and client-focused‘ with one contributor describing the team as ‘an excellent example of a regional firm which provides good quality legal services, primarily to the injured victims of accidents.’ Naina Tilney, head of the team, is a leading individual in East Anglia for both claimant and defendant work and is described personally as ‘Shrewd and tough.’

The Crime Team were again praised for their outstanding work by obtaining top tier status in the region and being one of the biggest crime legal teams in the area. Simon Milburn and Andrew Cave were recognised as leading individuals and the team were described as an ‘outstanding firm, well respected by clients and Judges alike’. One contributor to the guide said that ‘the firm stands out for its commitment to its clients and dedication to ensuring every brief is thoroughly prepared irrespective of its size or seriousness.’

The Commercial and Property Litigation Team were described as providing ‘good value for money and the expertise equates with much larger and more expensive firms; the close-knit team ensures clients feel their needs and concerns are getting the personal attention they deserve.’ Lesley Milne was awarded leading individual status with one contributor saying that she ‘stands out from the crowd.’

This is a fantastic achievement for us and one that we are immensely proud of. We will continue to work hard to exceed our clients’ expectations.
