MOJ Website Error Causes Incorrect Divorce Calculations

An investigation has commenced into reports of errors occurring on the Ministry of Justice website when calculating a couple’s financial settlement (Form E Submissions) when getting divorced.

The error has been fixed but could have affected thousands of couples since April 2014. This error highlights the importance of gaining legal advice in court proceedings. The concerns are that the error in the calculations could have led to unfair financial orders being awarded by the courts.
