We keep on growing...

...as our trainees become solicitors

Not only have we opened a new office in St Neots but the rest of the firm has continued its growth with new lawyers and support staff being recruited in response to the demand of our services.

It therefore gives us great pleasure to announce that two of our trainees, Andrea Harrod and James Steward completed their training this summer and have been admitted to the roll of Solicitors of England & Wales.

Andrea Harrod

Andrea Harrod, Trainee Solicitor qualifies and stays on at Hunt & Coombs and helps the firm to grow

Andrea works in our Wills, Trusts & Probate department. Andrea assists clients by advising on and preparing Wills and the general administration of estates, she also assists with applications to the Court of Protection in cases where mental capacity has been lost; no Lasting Power of Attorney has been made and there are finances to be managed. In these cases Court approval is required for the appointment of Deputies.

Andrea has also become a Dementia Friend providing a greater understanding of dementia and how to help people living with the condition.

Prior to being admitted to the roll of Solicitors, Andrea achieved her A levels at Spalding High School before attending the University of East Anglia, graduating with a 2:1 in Law (LLB). After University Andrea completed and received a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course.

In July 2014 Andrea started her training contract in Peterborough and in August 2015 moved to Hunt & Coombs. Whilst completing her training contract, Andrea trained in the family, commercial litigation, PI and the Wills Trusts & Probate department.

Andrea says:

“It has been extremely hard work for the past 6 years, from degree to qualifying, but completely worth it and I am looking forward to further developing my legal knowledge and skills over the course of my career. I am very excited to qualify.”

James Steward

James Steward, Trainee Solicitor qualifies and stays on at Hunt & Coombs and helps the firm to grow

James was educated locally at The King’s School Peterborough and continued his studies in Nottingham, where he gained his LLB and obtained a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course.

After completing his studies James returned to Peterborough and joined Hunt & Coombs Solicitors in November 2013. James initially joined the firm as a Paralegal in our Family team focusing on public family work. 

James was offered a training contract which he completed in September 2016 and has now joined the Commercial Property department, where he assists with all aspects of Commercial Property transactions also giving him the opportunity to work with Anna Spriggs and support some aspects of the Diocesan Registrar work.

James is also on the committee for the Peterborough Young Lawyers Group.

James says:

“I am absolutely delighted to have finally qualified. The hard work over the last few years has finally paid off. I am also very pleased to be staying at Hunt & Coombs Solicitors, a firm which is held in such high regard locally. Having grown up locally, I have always been aware of Hunt & Coombs fantastic reputation and I am honoured to have been offered a position in the Commercial Property team.”
