Kathryn joined Hunt & Coombs Solicitors in November 2015 and since joining the firm, she has worked alongside Edward Owen in the family team, to assist in the smooth running of his caseload.
Prior to joining Hunt & Coombs Solicitors, Kathryn worked within the Legal Services Child Protection Team at Peterborough City Council, where she supported a team of 4 lawyers with their heavy caseload. This was often varied and at times extremely complex. During this time, Kathryn was involved with cases that were subject to substantial media and press coverage.
Edward and Kathryn predominantly assist parents who are facing the difficult and distressing reality of having their child/children removed from their care.
Whilst Kathryn is currently not able to represent clients before the Court, she is extremely knowledgeable within this area of work and regularly attends pre-proceedings meetings (PLO), to assist clients who are potentially facing the daunting prospect of court proceedings.
Kathryn is known for her sympathetic and approachable manner, whilst explaining matters clearly and simplistically to clients.
Kathryn also assists the other fee earners in the Family team with the administration of their caseload where possible.
Kathryn can specifically advise and assist on the following aspects within these types of proceedings:
- Eligibility for Legal Aid funding for representation in Children Act proceedings;
- The PLO process and representation at PLO meetings;
- Representation at Court; and
- The Court process and types of hearings.
