Norman Hunter-Goulder LLB (Hons), Chartered FCIPD

Norman Hunter-Goulder qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and has more than 25 years’ experience in all aspects of commercial and general civil litigation and dispute resolution.

Norman is experienced in:

• A diverse range of contract disputes but including in particular the supply of goods and services;
• Property litigation including boundary issues, commercial lease termination and dilapidations, possession actions, covenant enforcement including injunctive relief;
• Contentious trust and probate including disputed wills, Inheritance Act claims, removal and substitution of trustees, and claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA);
• Debt recovery and insolvency;
• Professional negligence;
• Partnership disputes; and
• Defamation.

He regularly works for one of the leading franchised car retailer groups in the UK which operates from over 100 dealerships. Generally, this embraces the defence of more complex, higher value consumer claims and occasionally disputes of a more novel nature.

Norman is developing a specialism in Agricultural Law to expand our dispute resolution offering to new and existing clients in the agricultural sector. Prior to joining us, Norman represented the Defendants (Respondents at appeal stage) both at first instance in the High Court (Kingsley v Kingsley [2019] EWHC 1073) and in the Court of Appeal (Kingsley v Kingsley [2020] EWCA Civ 297 (Ch)) in a case which concerned the scope and extent of the Court’s powers under Sections 14 and 15 of TOLATA in the context of the dissolution of a farming partnership following the death of one of the partners and in relation to land worth approximately £3.25m.

Norman thrives in the robust pursuit or defence of client interests but is pragmatic and sensitive to the need to adopt a more conciliatory approach when necessary or appropriate to achieve client objectives. He strives to deliver cost-efficient outcomes for all his clients.
