Sandra qualified as a solicitor in 2018. She graduated from University of Kent with a 2:1 in law and went on to embark on the legal practice course finishing with a distinction. Whilst studying for the legal practice course, Sandra undertook pro bono work in the area of civil litigation to expand her knowledge in this area.
Sandra began her career in law as a paralegal within the immigration department of a firm; representing clients in appeal hearings, successful bail applications as well as judicial reviews. Sandra then went on to become a personal injury paralegal where she specialised in holiday sickness claims and flight delay claims.
In 2018, Sandra completed her training contract at a London-based law firm where she undertook seats in mental health law, civil litigation and immigration. After qualification, Sandra went on to work in mental health law, civil litigation, crime and immigration.
Sandra is particularly drawn to mental health law as she is passionate in ensuring that vulnerable persons are heard. Her work includes:
- Advising patients on their rights under the Mental Health Act;
- Advising patients on the prospects of success at the Mental Health Tribunal;
- Representing patients at Hospital Managers Hearings, attending CPA meetings as well as section 117 aftercare meetings; and
- Liaising with the medical team on the best possible outcome for the client.
Sandra is a member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme and represents clients at tribunals and hospital managers hearings.
